"Thousands of people marched from Taksim Square to the headquarters of the Agos newspaper to commemorate slain Armenian-Turkish journalist Hrant Dink, who was shot dead outside his newspaper's office in Şişli, İstanbul, on Jan. 19, 2007, on the eighth anniversary of his assassination."

Very Christmas Paris
My wife Jbid, my daughter Lialusin, and I have been to Paris during holiday season 2014 to visit our extended family members. It was the last weekend before Christmas and Paris was very -very- crowded.
Honestly, I'm not a big fan of visiting cosmopolitan cities like Paris because of all the crowd. Yes, I'm living in Istanbul and yes, it's maybe one of the most overpopulated cities in universe. But it's my city and I know it well.
You may think Paris is the city of romance but for me, it's a city full of relatives :) Yes, it was good to see them after 15 years, I really missed them so much. But next time i wish to find more time to shoot Paris streets and less time to visit houses full of family and friends. When I travel, I want time to slow down...
I'm not a normal travel photographer so you cannot see any Tour Eiffel photos here, but I think I took some good street shots anyways. Normally, I edit my shots in black and white but Paris is a colorful city and I don't want to alter that.
I like places like Rue de Rivoli and The Flea Market. Rivoli is a good spot: busy street full of people. You can get good street captures here. It's also near to every touristic spot. The Flea Market is another part of the city. Honestly I'm not sure how we got there as our cousin Gilbert drove us. There are lot of colorful shops and great graffiti. If you like graffiti and street art, Paris is a gold mine.
You can also check Yanidel's blog if you want to find some good spots to shoot street photographs in Paris. I checked it before my visit and it helped me so much.
Here are some of my Paris pictures. See you next time.

Kırkpınar Oil-Wrestling tournament
"Kırkpınar is a Turkish oil-wrestling (Turkish: yağlı güreş) tournament. It is held annually, usually in late June, near Edirne, Turkey since 1346.Before each bout, the wrestlers pour olive oil over their entire bodies, and the matches take place in an open, grassy field, with the contestants naked except for trousers made of leather, which extend to just below the knee. Victory is achieved when one wrestler either pins the other to the ground (as in many other forms of wrestling) or lifts his opponent above his shoulders. It now holds a Guinness World Record for the longest running sports competition." WIKI
I attended Kırkpınar two years in a row at 2013 and 2014. The 653rd tournament was held this year in Edirne. If you'd like to visit and take photographs, you must first send an e-mail to get accredited. It takes approximately three and a half hour (at most) to travel from Istanbul to Edirne. If you are visiting Turkey and want to shoot some sports photography, I can not think of any better event.
There are some photographers who gave their life work to shoot Kırkpınar, such as Ilyas Göçmen. Göçmen has been shooting this game for 42 years. His photography career is mostly known for these historical oil wrestling pictures.
At my 2013 shots, I mostly used my 70 200 f4 lens. This year I opted to use the 24-70 f2.8 lens with Canon 5D Mark II. Why? Because I sold my telephoto lens :)
The biggest challenge for a photographer at Kırkpınar is the games being held at the same time, same place. It's difficult to capture a clear action. You must use your widest aperture to achieve a clear photo separated from background.

12th Pride Walk
Two weeks ago Trans Pride walk was held in Istanbul. And last sunday all the LGBTI community gathered for their biggest yearly event 12th Pride Walk.
People gathered at Taksim Square and walked from the Beyoglu to reach Tunel. More than ten thousands of people walked this year to support gay rights.
What is the pride walk(or parade, festival etc.)?
"Pride parades (also known as pride marches, pride events, and pride festivals) for the LGBT community are events celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) culture and pride. The events also at times serve as demonstrations for legal rights such as same-sex marriage. Most pride events occur annually, and many take place around June to commemorate the Stonewall riots, a pivotal moment in modern LGBT social movements.
Turkey became the first Muslim-majority country in which a gay pride march was held. In Istanbul (since 2003) and in Ankara (since 2008) gay marches are being held each year with a small but increasing participation. Gay pride march in Istanbul started with 30 people in 2003 and in 2010 the participation became 5,000. The pride March 2011 and 2012 were attended by more than 15.000 participants. On the 30th of June 2013, the pride parade attracted almost 100.000 people. The protesters were joined by Gezi Park protesters, making the 2013 Istanbul Pride the biggest pride ever held in Turkey. On the same day, the first Izmir Pride took place with 2000 participants. Another pride took place in Antalya. Politicians of the biggest opposition party, CHP and another opposition party, BDP also lent their support to the demonstration. The pride march in Istanbul does not receive any support of the municipality or the government." WIKI
If you are still a homofobic you must watch their walk once in your lifetime for open your mind. They are very funny and colorfull. I'm very happy to capture their joy.
